Waiting for God's Promises

  • Waiting for God's promises to be fulfilled is part of trusting Him. No matter how long the delay, we must wait for Him.

    Sometimes waiting is really hard. Any mother can tell you that waiting to give birth is an experience that builds patience. But pity the mother elephant. It takes about 22 months before it gives birth! The shark known as the spiny dogfish has a pregnancy duration of 22-24 months. And at the elevations above 4,600 feet, the Alpine salamander endures a gestational period of up to 38 months!

    It is really hard to wait for God's promises. During my reflection, I came to realized 3 things.

    First, The Lord promise us a future full of hope. (Jer. 29:11). I remember Abraham. The Lord promise to him: "I will make you a great nation" (Gen.12:2). But as the years have passed, Abraham questioned how the fullfillment of the promise was possible when he didn't even have a son. But God assured him. Despite of his old age, Abraham believed in God and yet he waited 25 years from the time of the initial promise for Isaac to be born.

    Second, Have faith in Him. Faith is recognizing God's promise as an actual fact, believing it is true, rejoicing in the knowledge of that truth, and then simply resting because God said it. " A God who does not lie promised. (Titus 1:2).When we exercise genuine faith, faith turns a promise into a prophecy.

    Third, He Has promised us to supply every need we have. His grace is sufficient for us.(2 Cor. 12:9). Trust in Him. God always gives his best to those who leave the choice to him.God always performs what He promises.

    I don’t mind if it will take time, what matter most is I’ll keep on praying. I’ll keep on believing and I’ll keep on loving with all my heart.

    Not so in haste, my heart!
    Have faith in God, and wait;
    Although He seems to linger long,
    He never comes to late. - torrey

    In the end. God will have the last word and it will be good.
